Much has been said about diets. Now, again, there’s this new fad of low calorie ingestion diets, known as Calorie Restriction Diet Plans. Nonetheless, this kind of diet is nothing but new: the famous Dr. Atkins’ diet, revolutionary back in 1990, helped many people to lose several pounds in few days just by substituting carbohydrates by proteins. This has the drawback of ingesting more animal fat, rich in saturated fats, which heighten the cholesterol level. Today we know that during the first few weeks of this type of diet the weight loss is due almost exclusively to water, that is, the fat tissue remains the same. Additionally, there promptly arise constipation problems, because many carbohydrates that are cut from the diet contain fibers, which help to prevent constipation.
It is incredible that even today people don´t seem to understand that to lose weight they simply have to eat less than their daily energy needs, but in a balanced way, in order to remain healthy. In other words: eat less than what your body needs per day. But there is a nice twist to this: if you exercise more (you need more energy), you even can eat the same and still be losing weight! So the overall recommendation doctors give you today is to stick to your national dietary guidelines http://www.health.gov/DietaryGuidelines/ and drink enough water and make exercise.
Just a word about exercise: cardiologists urge you to walk at least during one hour each day (with a fast pace, that is, at least at a speed of 5 km/h) in order to maintain your cardiovascular system healthy. But the only real guarantee you have against a heart attack is if you jog for one hour! Anyway, that should help you controlling your overweight, too!
